A landmark coin series of the highest regard, The Perth Mint Gold Lunar coins package beautiful designs, limited mintages and universal appeal all in one program. Struck by the historic Perth Mint in .9999 fine Gold since 1996, each coin's Australian legal tender status guarantees its weight and purity. Beginning in 2020 and scheduled for yearly releases through 2031, The Perth Mint's Australian Lunar Series III collection continues the rich tradition of minting spectacular bullion coins by portraying animal themes from the Chinese Lunar calendar. Today, The Perth Mint Lunar coins are available in multiple sizes in Gold, Silver, and Platinum.

Each animal of the lunar zodiac is said to lend its dominant characteristics to those born during its reign. The seventh of the 12 auspicious animal symbols, the horse, lends independence, charisma, and a sense of adventure to those born under its influence in 2026, 2014, 2002, 1990, and every 12 years before that. They are passionate and temperamental, with natural charm and the ability to inspire others.

The coin’s reverse portrays a magnificent horse with elevated hooves displaying strength and poise. The background includes an image of mountainous landscapes and grassland. Included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘Horse’, the inscription ‘HORSE 2026’, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

The coin’s obverse bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, as well as the weight, fineness, and the monetary denomination.

The coin is housed in a protective capsule.
