Karel Havlíček Borovský was a tireless journalist, intellectual poet and uncompromising critic who did not hesitate to take on the Austrian monarchy and the Russian Tsar, but also his fellow revivalists. It is therefore understandable that in his lifetime he had not only many admirers but also many enemies. The intrepid author of offensive articles was twice brought to trial, and although he was acquitted on the basis of his own brilliant defence, as an incorrigible rebel he was sent into exile in the Tyrolean town of Brixen. His brave struggle against Austrian absolutism quickly became a symbol of patriotism, the desire for freedom and the fight against oppression. Havlíček's legend was further enhanced by his untimely death at the age of thirty-five, which made him a martyr.

The obverse of the bicentenary features fragments of the title pages of Karel Havlíček Borovský's newspapers and the title of one of his literary works. The text 'CZECH REPUBLIC' appears at the upper edge of the coin and the denomination with the abbreviation of the monetary unit '200 CZK' appears at the left edge of the coin. The Czech Mint mark consisting of the letters 'Č' and 'M' is placed at the bottom right edge of the coin.

On the reverse side of the bicentenary is a portrait of Karel Havlíček Borovský. The text 'KAREL HAVLÍČEK BOROVSKÝ' is inscribed around the perimeter of the coin at the right edge and '1821 - 2021' at the left edge. The initials of the author of the coin, the academic sculptor Zbyněk Fojtů, which consist of a composition of the letters 'F' and 'Z', are located to the right of the text '1821'.

In the case of top-quality coins, the field of the coin is highly polished and the relief is matt, the edge is smooth with the frieze "CZECH NATIONAL BANK".

Each coin is accompanied by a grey catalogue card with a description of the coin and its plastic representation.

The coin is supplied in a gift case.
