The first Czech gold coins, called dukats, were minted by Charles IV himself. When the Jagiellonians came to the Czech throne, the figure of St. Wenceslas - the patron saint of the Czech lands - appeared in relief for the first time.

The gold content of the ducats was carefully controlled and they were among the most reliable coins of their time. The weight of each ducat was set at 3,49 g and the purity of the gold used at 986/1000 (equivalent to 1/9 oz of pure gold).

In 1923, Finance Minister Alois Rašín decided to revive the historical tradition of minting Czech gold coins to celebrate the 5th birthday of Czechoslovakia. The First Republic's St. Wenceslas Ducats were so-called business coins that served as a store of value, but people quickly grew to love them especially as a gift for important events - for a cradle, graduation or wedding.

The ducat features an excellent portrait of St. Wenceslas with a helmet on the reverse side and a perfect representation of the Czech lion. On the obverse side, the Czech lion is complemented by a suitable symbolism of lime leaves, which are interspersed with the description CZECH REPUBLIC.

The coins did not have a predetermined mintage - an open issue. The issue was closed only after orders were received. A total of 35,000 pieces of this desirable coin were struck.

Each coin comes with a red catalogue card with a description of the coin and its plastic representation.

The coin is stored in a protective plastic capsule.

The coin is exempt from VAT.
